The Indian Medical Association has raised concerns about the promotional video of the film 'Suryaa - Ant Se Aarambh Tak'. They believe it portrays corruption within the medical profession and depicts violence against healthcare professionals in an inappropriate manner. The IMA has requested an investigation into the film's content and suggested corrective actions if necessary.
The Indian Medical Association (IMA) urged the information and broadcasting ministry to review the promotional video of Sunny Deol and Sanjay Dutt-starrer ‘Suryaa – Ant Se Aarambh Tak’, raising concerns that it portrays corruption in the medical profession as widespread and depicts violence against healthcare workers in a manner that could undermine public trust and threaten doctors’ safety, according to a report by Times of India reporter Anuja Jaiswal. In a letter dated October 22 to I&B minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, IMA national president Dr Anilkumar J Nayak called for an impartial examination of the film’s promotional content and appropriate corrective action by its makers. The association also sought a ban or other action if warranted under applicable law. The letter was copied to the Union health and home ministries and the National Medical Commission chairperson.
The IMA expressed concern that the film could present corruption and unethical conduct by some individuals as representative of the medical fraternity. It said that while individual cases of wrongdoing must be investigated and those responsible punished, the actions of a few should not damage the reputation of the entire medical community.
The association also objected to scenes showing physical attacks on doctors, nurses and hospital staff, particularly when such violence appears to be portrayed as heroic or justified. It cautioned that such depictions could normalise violence against healthcare professionals, who already face safety concerns in hospitals.
According to the letter cited by TOI, such portrayals could deepen mistrust between patients and doctors, undermining the cooperation needed for treatment and healthcare delivery. The IMA also warned that negative representations of the profession could demoralise medical students and discourage young people from pursuing careers in medicine.

While acknowledging the importance of creative freedom, the association said it must be exercised responsibly when the safety of healthcare workers and public confidence in essential services are involved.
